The Mountain Shadows Hotel is situated amongst the picturesque mountains of the Southern Drakensberg Mountains, in the heart of the Eastern Cape. In the Drakensberg range, each season has its own beauty and sandstone formations form part of the environment. The hotel is at the top of the Barkly Pass with a height of 1990 meters above sea level. It is on the scenic R58 Route between Barkly-East and Elliot.

The Hotel provides an ideal venue for training groups, motivational conferences and company getaways. The facilities are realistically priced to meet market needs. Breakaway facilities are available.
We have 21 sleeping units each consisting of 2 or 3 bedrooms with its own bathroom
Each unit has a TV, heater, kettle and cups. Cozy linen and electric blankets are provided for each bed.

Camping Facilities
Newly built ablution block for campers.

Water Supply
Two boreholes , ( 90m and 75m deep), recently upgraded with pumps and motors running on 3-phase electricity . Both feed a dam that supplies water to the hotel.
Dam backup , the second dam requires minor repairs and can act as a backup for the primary dam.

Waste and Electricity
Septic Tanks; four major tanks for waste disposal.
Electricity supplied by Eskom.
Generator 100 KVA standby generator .
Solar ; a 50 KVA Solar system to be installed soon.
